Lizars, W.H. : Lizar's Edinburgh Geographical General Atlas, containing Maps of Every Empire, State and Kingdom. Edinburgh. nd but 1842, folio (approx. 485mm x 320mm). Contemporary half morocco, rebacked with new end papers. Some marginal fraying, neat ink inscription on title page, index, 69 plates (51 hand coloured in outline maps on 69 double-page engraved map sheets), double-page engraved table of mountain chains, [2], 16pp index. Light offsetting to hemispheres, several splits at folds; some entering the engraved surface, map of Italy with large repaired tear. 

This volume includes the two important maps, one of the United States and one of Mexico, both showing the Republic of Texas. A very clean, good example of a relatively rare atlas. Reference Philips Atlases 782.
