A striking printing of 1939 and the 1904 versions of the story, together with an introduction by H.G. Wells. Pertelote 142. In Fine Condition Throughout.

Carew, Thomas. A Rapture, Golden Cockerel, 1927. 12mo, limited edition no 144 of 375. PP14, colophon[1], with two full page engravings by J.E.Laboureur. Bound by Simeon Jones in full natural coloured morroco. The front cover inlaid indicating a rapturous pair. Within a suede lined, gilt decorated clamshell box. Simeon Jones, recently elected Licentiate of Designer Bookbinders was highly commended for this book in the 2009 Designer Bookbinders Competition. In 2007 he won the Arthur Johnson prize, judged by Bernard Middleton. In 2008 he was awarded the Friends of John Rylands prize for Finishing. A talent which has already found homes for his bindings in The British Library and Private Collections in the UK, Europe and USA. A rare opportunity to acquire a lovely book within a clever fine binding by an aspiring bookbinding talent.

PP53, colophon, all pages and illustrations in fine condition. Free from any marks or inscriptions. A very attractive book.
