Kitchin, Thomas: A New Map of Carnarvanshire drawn from the latest Authorities. The London Magazine, ca.1780. A copper engraved map with hand coloured outline, of the county later known as Caernarfonshire, now Gwynedd. Overall size: 210mm x 260mm. Map size : 170mm x 210mm. Fleur de Lis watermark to paper. Early light fold mark across map. Bright and clean. With a pictorial title cartouche, county shield, compass pointer, scale (approx 6miles to the inch) and explanation. Shows the roads, parks and towns including Bangor, Llanberis, Conwy and Pulhely. A neat early record.

Speed, John : Penbrokshyre described and the sittuations both of Penbroke and St Davids Shewed in due form as they were taken by John Speed. Sudbury and Humble. 1610. Size approx 520mm x 390mm ( 20 x 15 inches). Early hand coloured double page copper engraved map. From Speed's "The Theatre of the Empire of Great Britain" with English text on verso with a description of the county and town listing. Inset town plans of Penbroke [Pembroke] and Saint Davids. Eleven coats of arms, scale and decorative title cartouche. Close cropped to border. Some smudging of colour on the Pembroke inset. Some wear to fold line not affecting appearance. An attractive early Speed map with strong print impression.

Early colouring, page size approx 385mm x 315mm, plate size approx 320mm x 265mm. Verso blank. With decorative title and compass rose, ship, compass dividers and scale in military miles. Centre fold, plate number (41) in lower left corner. Very good condition with strong bright print.

One very light water stain to top of map, otherwise in clean and bright condition with good strong print.

With towns, large villages, some roads, Offa's Ditch [dyke] and some rivers and lakes. With town insets of Denbigh, Saint Asaph and Flint. Early outline colour and centre fold. Manuscript 36 to margin. Some smudge of colour at lower edge near fold. One fox mark on map otherwise in clean and bright condition with strong print. .

Blaeu, Johannes. Montgomeria Comiatus et Comitatus Mervinia. [ Montgomeryshire ]. 1654. Sheet size 540mm x 615mm, map size 380mmx 505mm. Mid Wales area covered of Montgomery and Merioneth. Early hand colour heightened on gold. With elaborate title cartouche, distance scale and coats of Arms, including that of Lord Herbert of Montgomery. Dutch text to verso. Wide blank margins have some tears and folds where previously mounted. 25mm border outside map edge in good, undamaged condition. Some very light age tone to map but the good colours and strong gilt make this a very attractive map.

Saxton, Christopher : Caernarvo comitatus vars olim Ordovicum. London, 1610. Size approx 390mm x 330 mm. Double-page copper engraved map by William Hole. Ornamental cartouche to title, scale within dividers, compass rose and ornate merman and maid. Map includes the North Western area of Wales with Southern Anglesey together with the modern counties of Denbighshire, Merioneth and Flintshire. Blank verso. A good clean and bright map with a strong impression. Wide margins, very suitable for framing.
